The Numbers

More than 55,000 learners in approximately 37,000 family members are in House Education and studying applications in California, according to the California Department of Education and studying. However, many home school family members enroll in non-traditional personal schools that serve as an umbrella for the home-education system. These learners aren’t registered with their local region, so they are not included in the state’s figure. As such, a true count of the number of home schoolers in California has proved challenging.
